Caribelle Batik has dyed cloth at Romney Manor for forty years, under the same four-hundred-year-old saman tree the day visitors photograph from the lawn. The back-of-house tour goes through the wax studio, the indigo and brazilwood vats, the drying lines, and the workshop floor where the women who have been drawing wax freehand for three decades will let you try a small piece.
About 75 minutes. One small batik square to take home. Closed-toe shoes for the dye floor.
