Warner Park fills early. By the first set the perimeter vendors are three deep, the rum bars are busy, and the wind off the south-east peninsula is doing the cooling no fan could.

Four nights, four billings. Thursday built slowly. Friday was the show that gets the local crowd up early. Saturday and Sunday belonged to the headliners, though by Sunday the side stage had become the place to be: local acts, fewer cameras, more dancing.

The festival has run since 1996, and what it does well it has done for years. It feels like a Kittitian event with international acts rather than an international event held in St. Kitts. The crowd is local. The food is local. On Monday the radio plays back what the festival played all week.

We poured at the Sunday food perimeter. Brinley Spiced and Hi Biscus carried most of the rum punch. Bring a hat and more water than you think.
